According to the NHS, there are around 6,800 people who are diagnosed with mouth cancer each year with most cases occurring in adults aged 50 to 74 years old. The symptoms aren’t always easy to look for because not many people spend time examining the inside of their mouths each day. However, here at MJ Warren Dental Practice, we make sure to include an Oral Cancer Screening in every check up and consultation.

Awareness is always your best defence against any cancer, so be on the look out for any of these signs and symptoms in between appointments:

  • Ulcers that do not heal within three weeks
  • Red or white patches in the mouth
  • Unusual lumps or swellings in the mouth or head and neck area
  • Anything else that looks different to normal.
