We are a friendly, local, NHS dental practice and we are currently accepting new patients.
The first step to joining our practice is to book in for your dental assessment. The dental assessment is an integral part of your dental health check. We use this appointment to take your medical history, check your teeth, gums and overall health of your mouth.
We recommend having a dental assessment every 6 months so we can keep a good eye on your dental health. Even though you may not have any pain or you can’t see any signs of issues in your mouth, there could be an underlying issue in your mouth which we are able to identify.
As a rule of thumb, when you start to experience pain a problem has already progressed and will require more treatment to correct. So we always recommend to still see us even if you feel you are not having any problems.
Top Tips To Keep Your Mouth Healthy
- Brush you teeth twice a day (2 minutes minimum)
- Use a mouthwash (feel free to ask us for recommendations)
- Floss twice a day
- Eat and drink less items that contain sugar
We like to look after our patients teeth so you can keep your natural teeth for as long as possible. However, in between appointments it is important that you practice a healthy oral hygiene to reduce the likelihood of complications arising.
We can all suffer with dental problems at any point in our lives and they can even occur when we do take good care of our mouths. But the time it takes each day to have a good oral hygiene habit will be a good investment that can lower your dental bills in the long run.
Why Visit The Hygienist?
As well as having your dental check up every 6 months, it is recommended to see a hygienist as well. The hygienist has a very different role than a dentist. They will do a thorough scale and polish of your teeth and will tackle those hard to reach places that can sometimes be difficult to reach with conventional brushes. They also educate patients on techniques for better brushing and flossing to help you get those tough areas when your at home.
